You Probably Won’t Like Working With Me If…

Not every real estate agent is the right fit for every client, and honestly, that’s a good thing. Because buying or selling a home is personal, high-stakes, and emotional at times. The right working relationship can make the process feel clear and strategic. The wrong one can make it feel frustrating very quickly, for all parties involved. So here’s the truth: you probably won’t like working with me if you want someone who will simply tell you what you want to hear…I am nothing if not brutally honest. I am also brutally kind, but there’s a necessary balance.

I believe one of the most valuable things an agent can do is be honest—even when the conversation is uncomfortable. That might mean telling a seller their home is overpriced. It might mean telling a buyer that a property is not a smart purchase, even if they love it. It might mean having direct conversations about expectations, timelines, or market realities. I don’t believe in sugarcoating things if it ultimately hurts your outcome.

That said, honesty only works when it’s paired with communication. One of the things my clients consistently value is that they’re never left wondering what’s happening. Real estate moves quickly, and silence creates stress. I believe in frequent, clear communication so you always know where things stand, what’s coming next, and what strategy we’re using moving forward. Your communication with me is going to be equally as important- if you’re someone who likes to say ‘everything is fine’ and then crap talk to your partner when we hang up- we’re not going to work out. Being up front about your needs is my love language!

I also believe the real estate gods give you exactly what you need. Real estate can be emotional, unpredictable, and at times disappointing. Deals fall apart. Offers don’t get accepted. Homes you love sometimes aren’t the right fit in the long run. I’m not someone who believes in empty optimism or forcing outcomes that don’t make sense just to “make something work.” I will absolutely be a shoulder to cry on when tough moments happen, and then I’ll remind you to lift your head up and stride into the next moment, because what’s meant to be for you, will be. The right opportunities tend to come together the way they’re supposed to when you approach the process strategically, patiently, and with perspective. Sometimes the home you thought you wanted not working out ends up leading you to the one that makes far more sense. Sometimes the timing matters more than people realize. That doesn’t mean we sit back and hope for the best. We stay proactive, informed, and intentional. But we also trust the process instead of panicking every time something doesn’t go exactly according to plan.

The reality is that some people want an agent who feels more like a salesperson. Others want an agent who feels more like a strategic advisor. I am absolutely in the latter category. If you value transparency, direct communication, analytical perspective, and of course compassion, and we’ll probably work very well together. Because the best client-agent relationships aren’t built on telling people what they want to hear…They’re built on trust, experience, and integrity.
